An NBA analyst suggested a potential trade between the Toronto Raptors and Denver Nuggets this offseason. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed this trade
Denver Nuggets trade Michael Porter Jr.
Toronto Raptors trade Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, pick No. 31, and a 2026 first-round pick (top-four protected, via Indiana)
The Nuggets were eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of this year’s playoffs, while the Raptors did not make the postseason.
Buckley noted, “Denver shouldn’t ignore their playoff failure. The Nuggets’ lack of depth was evident, and Porter, who only scored 25 points in the last four games, was too quiet for a player earning over $30 million mainly for his offensive skills. Denver needs to consider making some changes to avoid becoming too expensive to maintain. If Porter is the one to go, this trade offers two immediate rotation players for the next playoff run, along with draft picks to develop their young core or use in future trades.”
Porter Jr. played 81 games for the Nuggets this season, averaging 16.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists, with shooting percentages of 48.4% from the field, 39.7% from three-point range, and 83.6% from the free-throw line. He is set to earn $35.9 million next season.
Bruce Brown, acquired by the Raptors from the Indiana Pacers in a major trade involving Pascal Siakam, played 34 games with Toronto, averaging 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.3 blocks. Brown, who played a key role in the Nuggets’ 2023 NBA championship win, has a club option worth $23 million for next season. According to NBA insider Doug Smith of The Toronto Star, the Raptors intend to trade Brown this offseason.
