Arizona State football secured another commitment for its 2025 roster on Sunday, securing the talents of wide receiver Cory Butler during a fruitful recruiting weekend.
Butler, a three-star prospect hailing from Centennial High School in Corona, Calif., revealed his decision to join the Sun Devils via social media. Standing at 5 feet 8.5 inches, Butler had received offers from notable programs such as Arizona, Boise State, Oregon, and Colorado, among others.
According to 247 Sports, Butler is ranked as the 74th receiver in the 2025 class and the 48th overall recruit from California. His performance last season as a junior showcased his skills, amassing 51 catches, 837 yards, and six touchdowns over 12 games, as reported by MaxPreps.
Assistant coach Anthony Catalano of Centennial spoke highly of Butler’s character, noting his dedication even through adversity like a broken wrist last season. Despite the injury, Butler remained committed to training, balanced participation in track, and maintained impressive academic standing.
Butler’s commitment adds to the talent pool of ASU’s 2025 class, which also includes four-star recruit Adrian Wilson as a fellow wide receiver. This commitment elevated Arizona State to the 16th spot in 247 Sports’ 2025 class rankings.

Prior to Butler’s announcement, Sun Devils wide receivers coach Hines Ward hinted at an impending announcement, further fueling excitement within the program.
ASU’s big recruiting weekend
Head coach Kenny Dillingham and his coaching team welcomed numerous recruits to Tempe over the weekend, focusing particularly on targeting prospects from Texas and California in their recruiting efforts.
The commitment spree kicked off on Friday evening with the addition of Desean Bryant, an offensive tackle hailing from Duncanville, Texas, where he boasts an impressive track record with two state titles in three seasons.
Saturday saw the commitment of three-star athlete Lee Fuimaono to the Sun Devils. Fuimaono, a native of San Clemente, California, was among the cohort of recruits visiting ASU during the weekend.

Bryant, recognized as one of the top 50 tackles in the 2025 class, became the fifth offensive lineman to commit in his class, joining Matai Jefferson, Rob Lapuaho, Alema Iosua, and Maki Stewart.
While Bryant’s commitment was the lone announcement on Friday, Dillingham hinted at more commitments to come.
