England manager Gareth Southgate described himself as “spinning plates” as he experiments with his team in preparation for Euro 2024. He faces a tough decision as he narrows down his squad from 33 to 26 players this Friday.

In a recent friendly at Newcastle United’s stadium, England triumphed 3-0 over Bosnia and Herzegovina. Kieran Trippier captained the team in front of 50,000 enthusiastic fans. Trippier, overcoming past injuries, is expected to be included in the final squad, which could be his last major tournament.

Trippier played on the left side of the defense, a position he might need to cover due to Luke Shaw’s fitness issues.

Anthony Gordon attended the match but did not play due to an Achilles injury. Despite missing the post-season tour to Australia, he aims to participate in the game against Iceland at Wembley. Gordon’s inclusion in the Euro squad depends on his recovery, following an impressive season and a promising England debut in March.

The competition for attacking positions is intense. Eberechi Eze excelled on the left wing, receiving praise before being substituted after an hour. Cole Palmer shone in the No. 10 role, bolstering his chances for selection, while Jarrod Bowen also made a strong case after a successful season with West Ham United.

Southgate emphasized the importance of making fair and right decisions for all players involved, acknowledging the significance of the upcoming selections.
