Minnesota’s highly anticipated football recruiting weekend, known as PJ Fleck’s “Summer Splash” official visit event, is set to take place over the next two weekends. Ahead of this event, the Gophers boasted eleven commitments, including notable names like California quarterback Jackson Kollock, Ohio running back Grant Washington, Andover wide receiver Cameron Begalle, and others such as Ohio tight end Cross Nimmo, Wisconsin defensive lineman Torin Pettaway, and Rhett Hlavacka, among others.
With the aim of bolstering their recruiting momentum as they head into June, the Gophers have secured a verbal commitment from offensive lineman Zac Stascausky out of Portland’s Central Catholic. Ranked as the fifth best player in Oregon, Stascausky had garnered offers from prestigious programs like UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, California, and others.
The commitment of Stascausky is particularly significant as the Gophers face potential departures of key linemen due to graduation and NFL draft prospects. With linemen like Tyler Cooper and Quinn Carroll graduating, and left tackle Aireontae Ersery possibly eyeing an NFL career after the season, there’s a clear need to replenish the offensive line. Stascausky’s agility and physicality on the field, especially evident in his performances at left tackle, make him a promising addition for the Gophers’ future. Head Coach Brian Callahan is evidently impressed by Stascausky’s abilities, particularly his adeptness at both pass protection and run blocking.
