Oregon State welcomed a new addition to their women’s basketball team as Spanish wing Cloe Vecina officially joined the Beavers’ roster on Tuesday.

Vecina, who hails from Celta Baloncesto Femenino, brings her experience from playing three games with Celta Zorka in the Spanish senior league. Despite being a freshman, Vecina is anticipated to make an impact with her versatility as a combo guard, capable of handling both on and off-ball duties.

Head coach Scott Rueck expressed his excitement about Vecina’s decision, highlighting her court vision, offensive intelligence, and shooting prowess. Vecina herself cited Oregon State as the ideal environment for her growth, both as a player and as an individual, emphasizing the welcoming atmosphere fostered by Coach Rueck and his team during her visit.

Notably, Vecina’s talents have also earned her a spot in the Spanish U18 national team’s training camp, as they prepare for the upcoming 2024 U18 EuroBasket tournament. She is currently vying for a position on the final roster.

Vecina’s signing marks the second addition from Spain for Oregon State this offseason, following Lucia Navarro from Florida State. With Vecina’s inclusion, the Beavers’ international contingent expands, joining returnees Susana Yepes and Kelsey Rees, bringing a diverse range of talent to the team.
