On Tuesday, the Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated shortstop Geraldo Perdomo from the 10-day injured list. Perdomo, who will be batting ninth, is set to participate as Arizona kicks off its series against the Los Angeles Angels. Additionally, outfielder Pavin Smith has been optioned to the Triple-A Reno Aces.
Perdomo had been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 4, due to a right meniscus tear. Before his return to the majors, he played in two Arizona Complex League games in the past week and had a four-game stint with the Reno Aces, garnering two hits in 14 at-bats.
D-backs manager Torey Lovullo mentioned that D-backs assistant hitting coach Rick Short would accompany Perdomo to Reno, emphasizing the importance of maintaining Perdomo’s routine for his success.
Before his injury this season, Perdomo played seven games for the D-backs, hitting .250 with two RBIs and six hits. In the previous regular season, he showcased his skills in 144 games, batting .246 with a .712 OPS, including 20 doubles, six home runs, and 47 RBIs. Perdomo also made significant contributions during the playoffs, batting .275 with two home runs and four RBIs in 17 games, aiding Arizona in reaching the World Series.
