The Philadelphia Phillies announced that catcher J.T. Realmuto will undergo surgery to remove part of the meniscus in his right knee, leading to his placement on the 10-day injured list. To fill his spot on the roster, the Phillies have called up Rafel Marchán from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, who will serve as a backup to Garrett Stubbs.

Realmuto, aged 33, will have the surgery in Philadelphia on Wednesday to address the persistent pain in his knee, which according to The Athletic, he has been playing through for nearly a month. The decision to undergo surgery was made after the Phillies returned from the London Series against the New York Mets on Monday night.
