It appears that Nottingham Forest is considering adding a new striker to their squad this summer, with rumors suggesting they are interested in signing free agent Che Adams. Adams, who previously played for Southampton, is currently seeking a new club after leaving the Saints as a free agent.

However, another English striker has recently become available on the market this summer, seeking to revitalize his career.

While Adams might be available on a free transfer, there are reports linking Forest to a potential £27 million move for Maximilian Beier, following his impressive season with Hoffenheim.

Furthermore, Forest could provide an opportunity for another striker to return to the Premier League this summer, three years after his departure from England.

Nottingham Forest could be perfect landing spot for striker’s revival

According to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, AS Roma and Tammy Abraham seem poised to part ways after three years together. Roma is reportedly willing to let go of the 26-year-old striker for less than £30 million due to a season plagued by injuries.

With two years remaining on Abraham’s contract with Roma, several Premier League clubs have shown interest. Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and West Ham are among those reportedly eyeing him, prompting consideration from Nottingham Forest.

One major concern for any potential suitor this summer is Abraham’s injury record, as he has struggled to maintain consistent form due to fitness issues.

Despite his time at Roma being marred by disruptions, Abraham has still managed to deliver decent performances when available. However, there is a sense that he has more to offer.

Tammy Abraham has more potential than Che Adams

While Che Adams thrived in the Championship with Southampton, Abraham showcased his talent in Serie A with Roma.

During his best season (2021/22), he scored 17 goals and assisted four in the league.

Reflecting on that performance, it offers promising signs for any team considering signing the 26-year-old this summer.

Progressive distance (yards) 32.9 29
Aerial duels won 49.4% 40.8%
Shot-creating actions 2.74 2.59
Goals and assists 21 20

Abraham’s ability to outshine Adams in a superior league underscores the potential value he could bring to a team.

Nevertheless, it undoubtedly poses a risk for any club considering Abraham this summer, given his injury history, which could either make or break his success at his next club.

What Jose Mourinho said about Tammy Abraham

During his career, Abraham has been able to play under some of the most successful managers with Jose Mourinho his gaffer during his time at Roma.

The Portuguese manager was not always complimentary of Abraham as he knew the 26-year-old had more to give.

But speaking to Sky Sports back in 2022, the current Fenerbahce waxed lyrical about the former Chelsea striker.

“Against Leicester he was absolutely amazing and at this moment I joke and say ‘I refuse to praise him’ because he can always do better,” Mourinho said.

“We have got into this situation where I demand a lot from him because I know he can do amazingly well.

“I don’t think it’s an easy decision for a young player to leave his club, his house, his city, his country and to leave the Premier League which is of course a competition that when a player is in its hard to leave.”
