Saudi Pro League team Al-Shabab appears poised for an active summer transfer window, as they are currently pursuing notable European players such as former Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and free agent Southampton striker Che Adams. Enhancing their scoring capability is the club’s main focus after a modest tally of 45 goals in the previous league campaign.

Based in Riyadh, Al-Shabab aims to surpass their eighth-place standing from the last Saudi Pro League season. They have already secured the services of Ivan Rakitic and Yannick Carrasco, bolstering their squad for the upcoming season.

The Saudi Club Could Sign Adams for Nothing

Aubameyang remains a top priority target for Al-Shabab, with Marseille indicating openness to negotiations despite the Gabonese striker’s impressive 30-goal tally last season. Despite previous reluctance towards moves to Saudi Arabia, the 34-year-old, who has played for clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona, has attracted consistent interest from the region. Al-Nassr made an attempt to sign him in 2022, predating the Saudi Pro League’s increased spending, and he has remained on their radar since then.

Che Adams 'needs transfer' from Southampton after 'not seeming right'

In addition to Aubameyang, Al-Shabab has joined the pursuit of Southampton forward Che Adams. Adams, who netted 16 goals in the Championship last season, is currently uncertain about his future as he heads to Euro 2024 with Scotland. While Southampton has engaged in discussions regarding a new contract, other clubs such as Nottingham Forest and Wolves are also vying for his signature.

Al-Shabab previously made a bold move for Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata in January, and in the summer of 2023, they presented him with an offer worth £12 million annually. Despite the enticing proposal, which included substantial bonuses, Morata opted not to agree to the terms. Currently, Al-Shabab has redirected their focus towards other targets, while Morata has attracted early interest from clubs in Italy.
