Hailing from Katy, Texas, McMath stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 255 pounds. According to 247Sports.com, he ranks as the 1241st player nationally and the 91st best interior offensive lineman. In Texas, he’s recognized as the 191st top prospect in his class according to composite rankings.
McMath marks Texas Tech’s first offensive lineman commitment in this recruiting cycle. Alongside interest from Big 12 peers like Arizona, Baylor, BYU, and Houston, McMath had garnered attention from programs across various conferences.
Texas Tech has faced ongoing challenges in fortifying its offensive line, a legacy of previous coaching regimes under Kliff Kingsbury and Matt Wells, which struggled to replenish talent in that crucial area.
