Ryan Wingo is poised to step up as a key player in Steve Sarkisian’s wide receiver lineup at Texas, known as Wide Receiver University. As he gears up for his debut season with the Longhorns, high expectations are already surrounding him.
Pro Football Focus College recently ranked Wingo as the eighth best freshman receiver nationally, which acknowledges his talent but falls short of recognizing his true potential.
Wingo’s rankings in other evaluations paint a clearer picture: he was ranked seventh among all receivers and 32nd overall in the 2024 class by 247Sports. On3 positioned him as the eighth wide receiver and second-best athlete from Missouri in his class.

Standing at 6 feet 1.5 inches and weighing 210 pounds, Wingo possesses the physical attributes of a collegiate receiver and was consistently rated as a 5-star recruit with a rating above 96.70. His standout performance in the Longhorns’ spring game, where he scored a remarkable 56-yard touchdown, underscored his promise.
Wingo’s speed is another standout feature, evident from his impressive times of 10.55 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 21.50 seconds in the 200-meter dash during high school. While his inclusion in PFF College’s top ten freshmen receivers is noteworthy, many believe he merits a higher rank than eighth in the nation.

As Wingo looks to support experienced wideouts like Johntay Cook II and Isaiah Bond while making significant contributions to Texas, his potential to shine brightly for the Longhorns is unmistakable.
