BREAKING: Mets key player ruled out from Saturday’s game due to serious injury

Today, the Mets placed Sean Reid-Foley on the Injured List due to a shoulder impingement. In a corresponding move, Danny Young was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse. Additionally, Starling Marte exited today’s game against the Cubs during the second inning due to soreness in his right knee.

Reid-Foley, acquired in the Steven Matz trade from the Blue Jays, has been a Met since 2021. Despite missing significant time in 2022 and 2023 due to Tommy John surgery, Reid-Foley has shown his best form in 2024.

In 23 games this season, Reid-Foley has conceded only four earned runs in 21.2 innings, tallying 25 strikeouts against 14 walks.

Despite the setback, Reid-Foley remains optimistic, stating, “I don’t have x-ray vision or MRI vision…but I think I’m going to be fine.”

During his clubhouse interview, Reid-Foley also candidly admitted to dyeing his mustache.

Meanwhile, Young, who was sent down to Triple-A on June 12, has been effective in his appearances this season. The left-hander has recorded 12 strikeouts and four walks, allowing just one earned run over nine innings.

Marte, who has been managing knee soreness for several weeks, was removed after his at-bat in the top of the second inning. Tyrone Taylor took his place in the outfield.
