When Michigan football fans have the opportunity to simultaneously taunt two rival fan bases with a single commitment, it’s an unbeatable scenario. That’s exactly what could happen if the Wolverines secure the commitment of three-star offensive lineman Kayden Strayhorn.
Strayhorn, ranked 464th overall according to On3 Industry rankings, currently has Michigan football as the frontrunner for his commitment. On3’s prediction model gives Michigan a 66-percent likelihood of landing him, with Michigan State trailing at 26 percent.
Michigan State, however, remains in contention due to Strayhorn’s family ties; he is the son of former Spartan football player Jayson Strayhorn, who also works as a radio broadcaster for the Spartans. Despite these connections, Michigan State has struggled to gain momentum in Strayhorn’s recruitment. Besides Michigan, he is reportedly considering Ohio State and LSU.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds, Strayhorn, who currently plays at IMG Academy, is viewed by Michigan as a potential center. Head coach Sherrone Moore, a former offensive line coach known for his recruiting prowess, has a strong relationship with Strayhorn, according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine.
With Moore hinting at impending commitments with suggestive tweets, it seems likely that Strayhorn could be one of them. Given the close rapport between Moore and Strayhorn, it wouldn’t be surprising if Strayhorn announces his commitment to Michigan in the near future, possibly as soon as this weekend.
