Newcastle United is reportedly interested in signing Southampton’s midfielder Carlos Alcaraz, as per a report from Italy. Alcaraz, who was on loan at Juventus with an option to buy for €49.5 million, is set to return to Southampton after limited playing time. Italian sources suggest Juventus will not exercise their purchase option, prompting Newcastle to explore a potential summer move.
According to Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale on X (formerly Twitter), Newcastle has initiated contact with Southampton to inquire about the 21-year-old Argentine midfielder. The Magpies are keen to learn more about the conditions required for his transfer, indicating ongoing interest in securing his services.
Despite Southampton’s recent promotion to the Premier League, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur have both expressed interest in Alcaraz, who joined Southampton in January 2023 on a contract running until 2028 under manager Russell Martin.
