Giants to rely on former Pro Bowl wide receiver to bolster their depth

The New York Giants are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 6-11 season. With an offense that has struggled, adding a new wide receiver could be crucial for the upcoming season.

Earlier in the offseason, WR Allen Robinson signed a one-year, $1.4 million contract with the Giants. At 30, Robinson is nearing the end of his NFL career, but he will still add depth and veteran leadership to the Giants’ offense.

Last season, Robinson played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, appearing in all 17 games and recording 34 receptions for 280 yards. He is best known for his time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he made the Pro Bowl in 2015 with 80 receptions, 1400 receiving yards, and a league-leading 14 touchdowns.

Robinson’s veteran presence could be beneficial to the Giants’ young receivers

Even though Robinson’s career is on the decline, he can still be an asset to New York. Over his career, he has accumulated 7,028 receiving yards and 43 touchdowns, making him a strong depth option at wide receiver for the Giants. Additionally, Robinson can serve as a valuable mentor to the team’s young receivers, such as Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Jalin Hyatt.

In 2024, New York aims to make a significant improvement after ranking 31st in the NFL for both passing yards per game and total passing yards last season. Robinson might provide a spark if he still has some energy left, or at the very least, offer crucial experience and guidance to the Giants’ youthful offense.
