The 64-team bracket for this year’s TBT was announced Wednesday morning, revealing that Assembly Ball, Indiana University’s alumni team, will face off against the Valparaiso alumni team known as the Cru. The game is scheduled for Friday, July 19 at 8 p.m. ET at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Assembly Ball, seeded No. 1 in the Butler Regional, is composed mostly of former IU players, marking the first appearance of an IU alumni team in the event’s history. This year will be the 11th edition of TBT.
The roster includes notable players like Yogi Ferrell, Juwan Morgan, Troy Williams, Jordan Hulls, Miller Kopp, and Devonte Green. Hulls serves both as a player and a coach. Race Thompson is also listed on the roster, although his participation is uncertain due to injury rehabilitation.
Other players on the team include Julian Gamble, Keith Hornsby, Kristian Doolittle, and Rion Brown. Gamble, a 6-foot-10 center, previously played for the University of Miami and has professional experience in Italy. Hornsby, a 6-foot-4 guard from LSU, has played in Spain. Doolittle, a 6-foot-7 wing, played at Oklahoma and in Puerto Rico, while Brown, a 6-foot-6 wing, played for Miami and in France.
The team is coached by Ross, who previously coached Will Sheehey at Sagemont High School in Florida, and Green contributes as a video and player development analyst for IU basketball.
TBT is a highly anticipated event with a $1 million prize, featuring 27 nationally televised games, including broadcasts on FOX, FS1, FS2, and Big Ten Network. The tournament begins in July and concludes in early August in Philadelphia.
