Stefon Diggs’ primary goal upon starting his debut season with the Houston Texans is to secure a Super Bowl victory. His arrival on April 3 has propelled the franchise into contention for the championship, with the Texans banking on Diggs’ skills to help achieve their ambitions.
As a seasoned 10-year veteran, Diggs will also provide crucial leadership to the Texans, particularly as the team’s young wide receiver corps continues to establish itself amidst early career successes.
“I’ve been in this league for a while now, and when I hear them talk, I see a lot of myself at their age,” Diggs remarked. “I vividly remember being in their shoes, and now I’m just as hungry, if not more so. I’ve tasted playoffs and been close. I see their mindset and aspirations, and it aligns perfectly with what I’ve always strived for.”
Since teaming up, Diggs has already taken Tank Dell under his wing. They had an existing relationship before the trade, and Dell emphasized their close bond. As a second-year player with potential to emerge as a top receiver in the league, Dell believes that learning from Diggs will significantly enhance his development both on and off the field.
Like Dell, Diggs was a mid-round draft pick who has established himself among the NFL’s elite receivers over the past decade. Selected in the fifth round by the Minnesota Vikings (No. 146 overall) in the 2015 NFL Draft, Diggs continued his impressive career, culminating in his sixth consecutive 1,000-yard season during his final year with the Buffalo Bills in 2023, where he amassed 1,183 yards on 107 receptions and eight touchdowns.
Tank Dell expressed his admiration for Diggs’ leadership, stating, “He’s been in the league for a while and knows the steps needed to succeed. Since he arrived in the locker room, he’s been a leader, sharing knowledge and guidance to help us achieve our goals. He’s been incredible, not just to us receivers, but to the entire group. He’s ready, he still has that ‘it’ factor, and when all of us come together against opponents, it’s going to be something special.”
