Jonathan Smith and the Michigan State football program have concluded their official visits for the summer, but the head coach remains active in recruiting efforts.
As of June 30, the 2025 recruiting class boasts 14 commitments, with potential for further additions in the near future. Smith aims to finalize much of his recruiting class before the 2024 season kicks off in just two months.
With the season approaching, Smith is intensifying efforts on key prospects, including Bryson Williams, a three-star athlete. Williams recently announced he will make his college decision on July 11. Hailing from Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary’s, Williams could potentially join his high school teammates already committed to Michigan State: three-star linebacker Charles White and three-star tight end Jayden Savoury.
While Michigan State appears to be a front-runner for Williams, other contenders like Pitt, Kansas, and Harvard, where he took official visits, remain in the mix. His most recent visit to East Lansing on June 21 could play a significant role in his decision-making process.
Williams’ academic prowess is evident, having received offers from Ivy League institutions such as Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Yale. His academic standing underscores his potential not only on the field but also in the classroom, making him a coveted recruit.
