Starkville – Following the promotion of Jake Jacoby to associate head coach, Mississippi State’s head men’s tennis coach, Matt Roberts, completed his coaching staff by hiring Trevor Gotkowski.
Gotkowski joins the Bulldogs as an assistant coach, coming from The Citadel where he served as associate coach for two seasons.
“We’re excited to have Trevor join our team,” Roberts commented. “When we decided to add a third coach, we were deliberate in finding the right fit, and Trevor met all our criteria. His enthusiasm and expertise are invaluable. We’re eager for him to start working with our players this fall and help advance our program.”
During his tenure at The Citadel, Gotkowski contributed to the team’s success with 18 victories, including eight shutouts, and guided players like Sebastian Kamieniecki and Hayden Shoemake to All-Southern Conference honors each season.
“I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity to be part of such a prestigious program and university,” Gotkowski said. “Working alongside Matt and Jake, two of the top coaches in college tennis, is a privilege I don’t take lightly. I aim to help elevate Mississippi State tennis and maintain our competitiveness at the highest national level. My family and I are excited to settle in Starkville.”
Before his college coaching career, Gotkowski worked as a tennis professional and golf shop manager at Kiawah Island Golf Resort and served as head tennis professional at Florence Country Club. He also co-founded Future Tennis, LLC and is involved with the Third Serve Foundation, which supports underprivileged youth in tennis.
A native of Cartersville, Georgia, Gotkowski earned 45 career victories as a four-year letterwinner at Wofford College from 2013-17, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a minor in business.
