Newcastle United are nearing the acquisition of Barcelona winger Raphinha following reports that the Magpies have upped their offer for the Brazilian.
This summer, Newcastle has already secured the signings of Lewis Hall, Lloyd Kelly, John Ruddy, and Odysseas Vlachodimos within the first month of the transfer window. Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh have departed for Nottingham Forest and Brighton respectively, but the club’s next incoming player may not be far off.
Manager Eddie Howe and Newcastle’s recruitment team are reportedly keen on adding a new attacker this summer, with former Leeds United standout Raphinha persistently linked with a move to St James’ Park.
Numerous reports suggest that Barcelona could be willing to part ways with Raphinha as they seek to refresh their squad during the offseason. Due to Barcelona’s financial constraints, they need to sell players to fund new signings, and reports from Spain indicate that club president Joan Laporta has ‘accepted’ Newcastle’s offer for Raphinha.
It’s reported that Newcastle has increased their bid for Raphinha to €60m, with sources indicating that the Premier League club is nearing a deal for the Brazilian winger.
