Murillo has responded to speculation about his future following Chelsea’s interest in the 6ft defender from Nottingham Forest. The Brazilian, who impressed during his debut season with Forest, is reportedly on Chelsea’s radar as they seek another centre-back following the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo and potential departures of Trevoh Chalobah and Thiago Silva.
According to football.london, Chelsea have shown strong interest in Murillo but found Nottingham Forest’s valuation of over £60 million too high. Reports suggested Chelsea may consider a deal involving cash plus players, potentially including Chalobah. Murillo, who featured prominently last season with 36 appearances, remains calm amid the transfer rumors.
Addressing the speculation and the prospect of replacing his idol Thiago Silva, Murillo told the Benja Me Mucho podcast, “We don’t know anything for sure. The transfer window opened last month, so I’ll return to Nottingham Forest for pre-season. Discussions may happen regarding my future, but I’m relaxed.”
When asked about his preference among other Premier League clubs, Murillo mentioned Manchester City as his choice, acknowledging the challenge of securing a regular starting spot given their strong squad. He also noted Arsenal and Liverpool as attractive options for showcasing his abilities.
In addition to Chelsea, other clubs linked with Murillo include Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona. Talks with Atletico Madrid have been reported, while Juventus withdrew from consideration due to squad restrictions on non-EU players.
