Florida Gators pitcher Cade Fisher, who started nine games last season in his sophomore year, has reportedly entered the NCAA transfer portal, as disclosed by Pete Nakos of On3.
Fisher, a left-handed pitcher hailing from Dalton, Georgia, appeared in 26 games during the 2024 season, finishing with a 4-3 record and contributing a save, though he struggled with a 7.13 ERA. This marked a significant departure from his standout performance as a freshman, where he earned recognition as a Perfect Game Freshman All-American and secured a spot on the Freshman All-SEC Team. In his freshman year, Fisher excelled with 27 appearances, going 6-0 with two saves and maintaining a 3.10 ERA, striking out 48 batters over 49.1 innings.
During his freshman season, Fisher limited opposing batters to a .262 average, a figure that rose to .282 in 2024. His control also varied, with 13 walks issued as a freshman compared to 29 in his sophomore campaign. Additionally, Fisher allowed two home runs in his freshman year, but this number increased to six as a sophomore, alongside hitting 13 batters.
Despite his struggles through much of the 2024 season, Fisher demonstrated resilience during critical moments, notably contributing to the Florida Gators’ College World Series run. He delivered pivotal performances, including a scoreless 1.1 innings against Georgia, conceding only one earned run in the regionals versus Oklahoma State, and pitching effectively in Omaha, contributing to victories over Texas A&M and N.C. State.
According to FloridaGators.com, Fisher boasts an impressive high school pedigree, having excelled as a four-time letterwinner at Northwest Whitfield under coach Todd Middleton. He was recognized as a 2022 Under Armour All-American and holds the Georgia state record for career ERA (0.71), achieving a stellar 17-1 record with 300 strikeouts in 157 1/3 innings.
Ranked highly by Perfect Game as the No. 12 left-handed pitcher and No. 112 overall player nationally, Fisher was also hailed as the top pitcher and No. 12 player in Georgia during his high school career.
