BREAKING NEWS: former Hoosier sharpshooter lands a staff role in the NBA

Former Indiana men’s basketball guard Parker Stewart has transitioned to a role with the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks as a Development, Advanced Scouting, and Video Associate, as indicated on his Twitter profile.

There are notable connections between the state of Georgia and the Indiana basketball program. Atlanta hosted the Hoosiers for a Holiday Hoopsgiving event, and several current team members (Kanaan Carlyle, Myles Rice, Jakai Newton) hail from the Peach State.

Mike Woodson, who began his coaching career with the Hawks in 2004 and still maintains a residence in Atlanta, has emphasized the significance of these ties. Furthermore, Associate Head Coach Yasir Rosemond is originally from Atlanta.

Stewart’s tenure with the Hoosiers spanned two years. He arrived as a mid-season transfer in 2020 under Archie Miller and subsequently entered and exited the transfer portal with the arrival of Woodson in the offseason. During the 2021-22 season, Stewart started in 31 of 34 games, averaging 6.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1 assist per game.
