BREAKING: Michigan State basketball star sign with Miami Heat

Former Michigan State basketball standout Gabe Brown has received exciting news: he’s been selected to join the Miami Heat’s Summer League team this summer. This opportunity comes alongside fellow Spartans Malik Hall and Tyson Walker, who will be playing for the Charlotte and Phoenix Summer League squads, respectively.

For Brown, this marks a significant development in his career. After going undrafted in the NBA in 2022, he played for Raptors 905, the G-League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, during the 2022-23 season before heading overseas. Last season, he played exceptionally well for Openjobmetis Varese in Italy, averaging 11.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 41 percent from three-point range, reminiscent of his performance at Michigan State.

His standout season in Italy likely caught the attention of the Miami Heat, leading to his inclusion in their Summer League team roster. While making the Summer League team doesn’t guarantee an NBA or G-League spot, it presents another opportunity for Brown to showcase his skills and potentially earn a roster spot. Even making the G-League would be a positive step forward in his career progression.

Brown’s first game with the Miami Heat is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. ET, although his readiness to play may be uncertain given his recent addition to the team. Regardless, there will be more games following Sunday for him to make an impact.

This opportunity with the Heat represents a chance for Brown to continue his journey from overseas basketball back to the NBA—a journey that fans and supporters hope will culminate in a successful return to the league.
