Gary O’Neil has already brought in three new players this summer and secured Tommy Doyle’s permanent transfer from Manchester City.
However, it’s likely that there will be further additions as the manager aims to significantly strengthen his squad for the 2024/25 season, aiming to avoid the shortage experienced in the latter half of the previous season.
Currently, O’Neil has four central midfielders, alongside Joe Hodge and Luke Cundle who both spent last season on loan. There’s a possibility that Hodge and Cundle might depart again this summer, potentially creating space for a new midfield signing.
It appears that Wolves have their sights set on a player who could potentially join them. The club has also shown interest in Anel Ahmedhodzic, a teammate of Hamer at Sheffield United.
Hamer, who made 38 appearances in his debut season with Sheffield United after transferring from Coventry City, stood out despite the team’s disappointing campaign that saw them finish bottom of the Premier League with a record number of goals conceded.
Despite United’s struggles, Hamer performed admirably and could command a substantial transfer fee, which would aid the club in their rebuilding efforts.
Former Sheffield United player Carl Asaba praised Hamer’s quality and improvement throughout the season, highlighting his fitness, ability to cover ground, and technical skill, which contributed to his five goals and eight assists last season.
