Adam Wharton is set to stay at Crystal Palace this summer, despite interest from several clubs including Bayern Munich. Following his inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024, reports indicate that Wharton will remain with the Eagles, having only joined them in January from Blackburn. Bayern Munich have already finalized a £60 million deal for Michael Olise’s transfer from Selhurst Park this summer, and manager Oliver Glasner is eager to retain key players.
Wharton’s journey to England’s squad was swift, starting with his senior debut for Blackburn Rovers in August 2022. Just 18 months later, after establishing himself as a regular in Blackburn’s lineup, Palace secured his signature in a £18 million deal. The 20-year-old midfielder quickly settled in London, starting in 15 of Palace’s final 16 Premier League matches under Glasner, helping the team climb the table. His impressive performances earned him a spot in Southgate’s Euros squad, debuting against Bosnia last month.
Despite interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid, in addition to Bayern Munich, Wharton committed to Palace with a five-and-a-half-year contract in January. Chairman Steve Parish expressed satisfaction with Wharton’s development, emphasizing Palace’s role in nurturing his potential.
