Described as a powerful hitter standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 210 pounds, Montgomery’s offensive prowess is notable. MLB.com’s analysis suggests he has significant raw power and has demonstrated his skills against strong competition like the Area Code Games. Despite some aspects of his swing mechanics that need refining, Montgomery has shown the ability to make contact effectively.
However, there are uncertainties about his long-term position on the field. While he currently plays catcher and possesses a strong arm, his size might prompt a shift to first base or a corner outfield position in the future. Regardless of his defensive position, Montgomery’s batting potential appears to be what attracted the Braves’ attention during the draft.
As Montgomery weighs his options between honoring his commitment to Arizona State or starting his professional career with the Braves in the minor leagues, his development path will depend on various factors moving forward.
