BREAKING: Atlanta united set to sign another brilliant star on a long term deal

Atlanta United seemed to intensify their efforts to acquire the 28-year-old attacking midfielder, who would immediately step into the team’s starting lineup as one of the Designated Players (DP). Atlanta currently has two open DP slots following the departures of Giorgos Giakoumakis to Cruz Azul and Thiago Almada to Botafogo.

RUMOR: Atlanta United interested in Atalanta attacking midfielder Aleksey Miranchuk - Scarves and Spikes

Reports surfaced early last week from GiveMeSport’s Tom Bogert, indicating that the 2018 MLS Cup champions had submitted a bid around $10 million. Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now disclosed that Atlanta has made another bid for the Russian international, although the exact amount remains undisclosed.

With Almada’s move to Brazil, Miranchuk would fulfill a clear need for Atlanta, led by interim head coach Rob Valentino. The team currently lacks a natural playmaker who can step up immediately, and Miranchuk appears to be their targeted solution to enhance creativity in the final third.

Romano also mentioned last week that Atalanta is holding out for €15 million ($16.3 million), a substantial fee for an MLS club to pay, especially for a player whose contract expires next summer. This fee would surpass Atlanta’s previous record incoming transfer fee of $16 million, which they spent to acquire Thiago Almada early in 2022.

However, Romano’s reports conflict with information from fellow Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who claimed that Atlanta United had reached an agreement with Atalanta back on July 11, and now await Miranchuk’s decision.

It remains uncertain whether Miranchuk, formerly of Lokomotiv Moscow, will make the move to Major League Soccer, but Atlanta United appears committed to continuing their pursuit of the talented midfielder.
