In the 11th round of this year’s Draft, the Mets selected a hometown talent.
Originally from Levittown, N.Y., approximately 20 miles east of Citi Field, Nick Roselli played high school baseball at Division Avenue before continuing his education at Binghamton University upstate. There, he excelled enough to become the highest-drafted Binghamton player in over ten years.
And yes, it’s worth noting: Roselli is a devoted Mets fan.
“He grew up spending a lot of time at Citi Field,” remarked Mets vice president of amateur scouting Kris Gross. “It’s pretty special how everything has come together.”
During his three-year tenure at Binghamton, Roselli boasted a slash line of .349/.442/.608 with 26 home runs, demonstrating what Gross described as “impressive power for a second baseman.”
“It’s really exciting to see a young man who grew up cheering for the Mets have this opportunity,” said Mets director of amateur scouting Drew Toussaint. “Everything has aligned perfectly, and we hope to have him signed with us soon. It’s like he’s living out his childhood dream.”
