Kyrie Irving, the star guard for the Mavericks, recently underwent surgery on his left hand to repair a fracture, as confirmed by an official announcement from the team. The injury occurred earlier this month during his training sessions.
Irving had a standout postseason performance, averaging 22.1 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.7 rebounds, alongside Luka Doncic, leading Dallas to the NBA Finals. In the regular season, he maintained impressive stats with 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game across 58 appearances, despite missing time in December and late January due to heel and thumb issues.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Irving is expected to recover in time for training camp, which begins in approximately two-and-a-half months. Sources close to the team expressed optimism to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon about Irving’s prospects for participating in camp, though the injury will necessitate adjustments to his usual offseason routine.
Financially, Irving is slated to earn $41 million next season, with a player option of $43.96 million for the subsequent year, marking the final season of his current contract.
