The Pittsburgh Pirates are currently enjoying a winning streak, securing five consecutive victories highlighted by Nick Gonzales’ game-winning single. Capitalizing on this momentum, the front office aims to enhance their roster.
According to Craig Mish of the Miami Herald, the Pirates, among other teams, are exploring a trade for All-Star outfielder/second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. Mish believes Chisholm may be traded as the Marlins are open to deals. Discussions with the Pirates are described as preliminary but promising.
Acquiring Chisholm would significantly upgrade the Pirates’ center field, currently managed by Michael A. Taylor with an OPS of .537. In contrast, Chisholm boasts an OPS of .728 over 94 games this season. Mish suggests Chisholm could be acquired for less than expected, possibly involving prospects still developing in the minors.
If successful, this potential trade would bolster Pittsburgh’s lineup and strategic options as they pursue further success in the season.
