Buffalo Sabres and forward Beck Malenstyn agreed to a two-year contract worth $2.7 million on Tuesday. The Sabres acquired Malenstyn from the Washington Capitals in June in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. Selected by the Capitals in the fifth round of the 2016 NHL Draft, Malenstyn spent parts of four seasons with the team. Last season, the 26-year-old played in 81 games for the Capitals, achieving career highs in goals (six), assists (15), and points (21). He led the Capitals with 241 hits.
“This player is known for his direct, physical style, delivering impactful checks,” commented Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams in June. “His aggressive playing style addresses a specific need within our team.”
