Freshman wing Isaiah Evans, standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 175 pounds, is poised to bring dynamic scoring and energy to Duke this season. Drawing comparisons to former standout Brandon Ingram, Evans is known for his agility and efficient scoring ability. In his standout senior year at North Mecklenburg High School, Evans averaged 27.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game with an impressive 53% shooting accuracy, leading his team to the North Carolina 4A State Championship. He earned accolades such as McDonald’s All-American Game selection and North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year.
Evans showcases a sharp 43% shooting from beyond the arc, excelling in both catch-and-shoot situations and creating his own shots, notably with a stepback and high-release three-pointer. Similar to Ingram, Evans demonstrates a polished turnaround jumper and adeptness at scoring in traffic. Defensively, he utilizes his length to disrupt plays, averaging 2.4 steals per game in his senior season.
Duke fans are enthusiastic about Evans’ arrival, appreciating not only his basketball prowess but also his commitment to the program since his junior year of high school. Anticipation is high for his impact on the court and his ability to contribute early in the season.
