The New York Knicks and head coach Tom Thibodeau have reached a new agreement on a three-year contract extension, extending his tenure with the team until the 2027-28 season. This update comes from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Thibodeau, aged 66, joined the Knicks ahead of the 2020-21 season following coaching stints with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves. Since taking over in New York, Thibodeau has guided the team to a 175-143 record, achieving a 55.0% win rate in regular-season games.

Under Thibodeau’s leadership, the Knicks advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals in consecutive seasons, marking the first time since Jeff Van Gundy’s tenure in 1999 and 2000 that a Knicks coach has accomplished this. Additionally, the team has posted winning records in three of Thibodeau’s first four seasons, including a milestone 50-win season in 2023-24, the first in over ten years.
