The Wisconsin Badgers were in contention for three-star defensive lineman Kade Pietrzak, who visited their campus on May 31st. However, after also visiting Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Kansas State in June, Pietrzak officially committed to the University of Nebraska last Sunday. Nebraska’s defensive coordinator Tony White and defensive line assistant coach Terrance Knighton played pivotal roles in recruiting Pietrzak to Lincoln, as reported by 247Sports. Rivals also credited Huskers head coach Matt Rhule for his efforts in recruiting Pietrzak.
Despite Pietrzak’s visit to Madison, the odds were not in favor of him choosing the Wisconsin Badgers. Throughout the summer, he was expected to commit to the Oklahoma Sooners. However, after visits to Nebraska and Kansas State, Nebraska emerged as the favorite, securing his commitment last weekend.
Pietrzak becomes the third defensive lineman recruit for Nebraska, joining four-star Malcolm Simpson from Hitchcock, Texas, and Tyson Terry from Omaha. Nebraska’s 2025 recruiting class is ranked 10th in the Big Ten Conference and 30th nationally.
Had Pietrzak chosen Wisconsin, he would have been the top defensive line recruit in their 2025 class according to 247Sports’ rankings. Nevertheless, Wisconsin continues to maintain a strong recruiting class, ranked seventh in the Big Ten and 22nd overall in college football. Their defensive line recruits include three-stars Torin Pettaway and Wilnerson Telemaque, with Nicholas Clayton listed as an edge rusher.
Wisconsin remains a finalist for running back Byron Louis of Fort Lauderdale, competing with Florida State and Miami (FL). As of Tuesday, FSU is considered the favorite to land Louis. Wide receiver Kamren Flowers from West Bloomfield, Michigan, currently has the Badgers as his top choice.
