In Detroit, a left-handed reliever who had brief appearances with the Tigers in 2023 has returned to the majors, this time with the Atlanta Braves.
On Wednesday, the Braves called up Zach Logue from Triple-A Gwinnett. Logue, 28, pitched in three games during two short stints with the Tigers last year but primarily played for Triple-A Toledo. Following the season, the Ohio native chose free agency.
During his time with the Tigers, Logue pitched 11 innings, allowing nine runs while striking out 10 and walking two. His stint in Toledo saw him record a 3-10 record with a 6.58 ERA over 90 1/3 innings.
Previously, Logue appeared in 14 games, including 10 starts, for the Oakland Athletics in 2022, where he posted a 6.79 ERA with 42 strikeouts and 20 walks across 57 innings. He was drafted in the ninth round from the University of Kentucky by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2017.
Logue joined the Tigers after being claimed on waivers two winters ago, staying with the team after clearing waivers again. In the Braves’ system, he has shown improvement with a 2.93 ERA across two levels, tallying 73 strikeouts and 21 walks in 76 2/3 innings.
