St. Louis CITY SC have reacquired Simon Becher to MLS, announcing on Tuesday that they’ve secured the forward on loan from AC Horsens of the Danish top-flight league.
The 25-year-old will be with St. Louis through June 2025 under this agreement. Moreover, CITY SC possess an option to purchase Becher’s contract through 2026, with further club options for 2027 and 2028.
“We are thrilled to welcome back a native of the Midwest to St. Louis and to enhance our attacking options,” stated sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel in an official statement.
“Becher has proven himself in MLS and brings valuable European experience that we believe will strengthen our squad. We look forward to seeing him contribute here in St. Louis.”
Becher had left St. Louis in January following a stint with Vancouver Whitecaps FC. A first-round pick in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas, he recorded 8 goals and 2 assists across 26 matches in all competitions with Vancouver.
During his time at AC Horsens, Becher scored three goals in 14 appearances.
Becher joins St. Louis as their third attacking addition this summer, following Cedric Teuchert and Marcel Hartel from Germany’s second division. Additionally, striker Sam Adeniran was traded to the Philadelphia Union.
St. Louis currently ranks 13th in the Western Conference standings as they prepare for the Leagues Cup, trailing the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs line by 10 points. CITY SC are presently led by interim coach John Hackworth following the departure of Bradley Carnell in early July.
