The Seahawks recently hosted former Miami and Dallas offensive lineman Connor Williams for a visit, which was confirmed by head coach Mike Macdonald after the first day of training camp on Wednesday.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on social media that Williams passed a physical with the Seahawks and that discussions for a potential deal have commenced. However, Schefter also noted that Williams is still in negotiations with other teams.
Macdonald described the visit with Williams as “great.” Williams, who is recovering from a torn ACL suffered last December while with the Dolphins, remains a free agent coming off an injury, adding some uncertainty to the timeline of a potential agreement.
Williams, a second-round draft pick in 2018, started nine games for Miami last season and had at least ten starts in each of his previous five seasons. Over his four seasons with the Cowboys, the 27-year-old Texas native appeared in 57 games, including 51 starts at left guard, before transitioning to center with the Dolphins. He started all 17 games in 2022 before his injury.
The Seahawks have open competition for both center and right guard positions on their offensive line. Second-year player Olu Oluwatimi and backup Nick Harris are among those competing for the center spot, while the right guard position is contested by second-year pros Anthony Bradford and McClendon Curtis, along with rookies Christian Haynes and Sataoa Laumea.
