SURPRISING NEWS: The Patriots have officially announced the release of cornerback and bid him farewell

The New England Patriots announced on Friday that they have waived rookie cornerback Kaleb Ford-Dement.

Ford-Dement, 24, was no longer present as the Patriots resumed their third training camp practice. The 5-foot-11, 178-pound undrafted free agent had joined the team in early May.

Ford-Dement’s college journey took him from Kilgore College in 2017 to Old Dominion in 2019, and then Washington State in 2021, before finishing his career at Texas State in 2023. During his final season, he played in 13 games, starting 11 of them. The redshirt senior recorded 32 tackles, one sack, three interceptions, and seven pass breakups for the Bobcats.

He is the second undrafted rookie to be waived by the Patriots this week, following the release of linebacker Jontrey Hunter from the non-football injury list on Monday.

The Patriots’ roster now stands at 88 players, with an exemption for converted defensive end Jotham Russell, who is participating in the NFL’s International Player Pathway program.
