BREAKING NEWS: Raiders star officially confirm multi-million dollar contract with NFL top team

The Green Bay Packers made a notable move this offseason by signing running back Josh Jacobs, who previously played for the Las Vegas Raiders. With Jacobs joining the Packers, they parted ways with running back Aaron Jones, who then signed with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Packers have strengthened their running back corps, not only by acquiring Jacobs but also by drafting Marshawn Lloyd from USC in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. In a surprising move, they also re-signed A.J. Dillon to a one-year deal, despite speculation that he might not return this season. Dillon could still be cut or traded before the 2024 season begins. Lloyd has been dealing with a hip injury that has kept him out of training camp.

Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report has listed nine NFL players who might underperform in fantasy football leagues this season, including Jacobs. Although Jacobs led the NFL in rushing two years ago with 1,653 yards, he had a drop to 805 rushing yards last season with the Raiders.

The Packers have high expectations for Jacobs, offering him $12 million per season to replace Aaron Jones as their top running back. Fantasy managers are also optimistic, considering Jacobs as a low-end RB1 for the Packers’ potentially high-scoring offense. However, Jacobs’ impressive 2022 season was followed by a contract holdout and a less productive 2023, raising concerns about his 2024 performance.

Jacobs is expected to be the primary running back on the Packers’ depth chart, with A.J. Dillon currently in the second spot and Marshawn Lloyd in third. Green Bay might lean heavily on their passing game with quarterback Jordan Love, which could make their wide receivers more appealing in fantasy football this season.

Some fantasy managers may draft Jacobs in the first round, but Davenport notes that Dillon, who has shown strong performance in camp, could impact Jacobs’ carries. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has indicated that all three running backs will see playing time, which could make it challenging for Jacobs to justify his draft position.

Lloyd is expected to be a key part of the Packers’ plans once he returns to practice. Although Jacobs should be the main back in Green Bay’s offense, the team’s rotation strategy may limit his fantasy value.
