The Texas Rangers are nearing a final agreement to acquire left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin from the Detroit Tigers, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. Details of what the Tigers will receive in return for Chafin are not yet available.
Chafin, who joined the Tigers on a one-year, $4.25 million deal on December 12, 2023, also has a club option for 2025.

This season, Chafin has been a dependable part of the Tigers’ bullpen, recording a 3.16 ERA in 41 games, with 50 strikeouts and a 1.378 WHIP over 37 innings. His career numbers include a 3.39 ERA, 20 saves, and 535 strikeouts in 489 innings. The Rangers, aiming to strengthen their bullpen for a playoff run, view Chafin as a significant addition due to his experience and solid performance this year.
