Cleveland Browns running back D’Onta Foreman was hospitalized on Thursday following a serious injury sustained during a training camp session.
Foreman was taken off the field on a cart after getting hurt in a special teams drill. The team later disclosed that he had experienced a direct hit to the head, which led to neck pain. He was transported by ambulance and then by helicopter to a nearby medical facility in West Virginia where the Browns were practicing.
The Browns confirmed that Foreman “had movement in all of his extremities.” According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Foreman remained “in good spirits” and the training and medical staff were exercising caution.
Following Foreman’s removal, the Browns gathered for a moment of prayer.
Foreman joined the Browns as a free agent this offseason. Last year, he played for the Chicago Bears, initially as a healthy scratch before stepping into a starting role due to injuries, and ended the season with 429 yards and 4 touchdowns on 109 carries.
At 28, Foreman had his most successful season with the Carolina Panthers two years ago, rushing for 914 yards and 5 touchdowns.
