Adam Schefter reports that recent tests on Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith’s knee and hip showed no significant damage. According to a source, Smith “shouldn’t miss any time.”
Smith had missed the last two training camp practices after sustaining some minor injuries on Tuesday.
At 33, Smith was a second-round pick by the Jets in 2013. After completing his initial four-year, $5.019 million contract, he signed a one-year, $2 million deal with the Giants in 2017. He then signed a one-year contract with the Chargers for the 2018 season before joining the Seahawks in 2019. He signed one-year extensions for the next three seasons before being named the starting quarterback in 2022.
In March of last year, Smith signed a three-year, $105 million extension with the Seahawks. He’s entering the second year of his contract, which includes a fully guaranteed base salary of $12.7 million, and he’s scheduled to earn an additional $14.8 million in base salary in 2025.
In 2023, Smith played 15 games, completing 64.7% of his passes for 3,624 yards, 20 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He also rushed 37 times for 155 yards and one touchdown.
