Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith is currently dealing with injuries to his hip and knee, and tests will be conducted to assess their severity, Coach Mike Macdonald informed reporters on Thursday. Smith, who has been absent from the team’s last two practices, is undergoing evaluations to determine the extent of these issues, as reported by ESPN.
Macdonald explained that Smith is managing some complications from earlier but emphasized that imaging later in the day will provide more clarity. The coach noted uncertainty about whether Smith will be able to practice on Friday, as the full impact of the injuries is still unknown. At 33, Smith missed the Seahawks’ walk-through on Wednesday and watched from the sidelines during Thursday’s padded practice.
In Smith’s absence, Sam Howell, who was acquired in a March trade with the Washington Commanders, has been taking the first-team quarterback reps for the past two practices. Additionally, PJ Walker, formerly with the Carolina Panthers, is serving as Seattle’s third-string quarterback.
