Inside Auburn tight end Luke Deal’s home, a nursery is all set to welcome the couple’s first child. Deal took charge of painting the room, but he admits he didn’t contribute much beyond that.
“You’re kind of exposing me because I didn’t do much. My wife planned everything, so she had it all ready before I could even start,” Deal confessed to reporters on Friday. “She put together everything else. It’s nice and organized. If you look at it, you’ll know I didn’t set it up. It looks really good.”
With his wife Ansley’s due date of August 15 approaching, Deal is expecting the nursery to be in use “any day now.”
“I’m new to this whole experience, but everyone says it could happen any day, so we’re really excited,” Deal said.
As Auburn’s fall camp has just begun, Deal has been spending a lot of time at the facility in preparation for his sixth season with the Tigers. However, his wife has a plan to ensure he can be reached if the baby arrives early.
“She’s got everyone’s numbers so they can get ahold of me,” Deal explained. “I trust pretty much everyone here to reach me.”
The couple, who married in the spring of 2022 after Luke’s proposal at Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium, is expecting a son named Christopher James.
“My wife and I are just taking it day by day, enjoying life, and being grateful for what we have right now. It’s going to be a big time in the next few days or weeks, whatever it may be,” Deal said. “Hopefully, we’ll be as prepared as we can be.”
