Nick Foles is officially ending his career, and he’s doing so in a fitting manner.
In a social media video posted on Thursday, Foles announced his decision to retire after 11 years in the NFL. He expressed his gratitude to all the teams he played for, his agents, friends, and family.
In a fitting tribute, the Philadelphia Eagles revealed that Foles will retire officially by signing a one-day contract with them. He will be celebrated at the team’s home opener on September 16.
Foles’ most notable period was with the Eagles. After stepping in for an injured Carson Wentz mid-season in 2017, he led the team to a Super Bowl victory and earned Super Bowl MVP honors, thanks in part to his role in one of the most memorable playcalls in recent NFL history. This achievement cemented his legendary status in Philadelphia, despite his mixed success before and after that season.
Foles retires with a commendable 11-year career, mainly as a reliable backup. His accolades include a Super Bowl MVP award, a Pro Bowl appearance, and over $83 million in career earnings.
