The Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly entertaining trade offers for some of their veteran players, including center Robert Williams III. Williams, who appeared in only six games this season due to a dislocated patellar tendon and subsequent surgery, was acquired by the Blazers from the Boston Celtics in a trade that brought Jrue Holiday to Boston.
Now, insider John Hollinger from The Athletic suggests that Williams might be heading back to the East Coast to join the New York Knicks. While the Knicks are interested in Williams, they may choose to wait and evaluate his performance over the season to ensure he can stay healthy for more than just a short period.
A fully healthy Williams could be a valuable addition for the Knicks, especially after losing Isaiah Hartenstein in free agency. With Mitchell Robinson also having faced injury issues, the Knicks are looking for a reliable big man. Given Williams’ previous success with the Celtics, including his role in their NBA Finals appearance two years ago, he could be an appealing option if the Knicks determine he can regain his form for the upcoming season and beyond.
