Pittsford, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills defense turned up the heat during practice on Monday, marking the 10th day of the team’s training camp at St. John Fisher University.
In team drills, coach Sean McDermott orchestrated a scrimmage-like session, with the offense facing relentless pressure from the defense throughout the morning.
On one short pass to slot receiver Andy Isabella, defensive tackle DeShawn Williams collided with the 5-foot-8, 188-pound receiver. Isabella required brief attention from the athletic training staff before being helped off the field. Shortly afterward, he was carted off with what appeared to be a leg injury.
Following the play, Bills quarterback Josh Allen voiced his frustration to the defense, leading to a brief altercation between the two sides. Backup center Alec Anderson was at the center of the scuffle.
The Bills defense was active and disruptive across the board, causing problems for Allen, his receivers, the blockers, and the running backs. They forced Allen into difficult throws with limited windows and achieved several short completions to keep the offense moving.
Bills linebacker Matt Milano delivered one of his standout performances of the summer, stopping multiple runs at or behind the line of scrimmage. He also recorded a sack during a blitz with safety Taylor Rapp early in the 11-on-11 drills. Milano’s improved performance since the start of camp is likely reassuring to Bills fans concerned about his readiness for the season opener, as he continues to grow more comfortable each day.
