Michigan defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan has secured his first cornerback for the 2025 recruiting cycle with the commitment of four-star Jayden Sanders on Saturday.
Sanders, from Kilgore, Texas, chose Michigan over Oklahoma State and Baylor. Although TCU, where his father played defensive back, was initially a strong contender, they eventually dropped out of the running.

Morgan, along with special teams coordinator and secondary coach JB Brown, who is also from Texas, extended an offer to Sanders on June 6. Their relationship quickly developed, with Sanders visiting Ann Arbor in mid-June and again in late July for the BBQ at the Big House. Sanders told The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb that his connection with Morgan grew stronger over time: “The more I talk to (Morgan), I feel like the more he’s opening up to me, as well as I’m opening up to him. So, I feel like we have somewhat of the same personality.”
Ranked as the No. 318 overall prospect and the 30th cornerback in his class by 247Sports Composite, Sanders’ ranking improved significantly after impressive performances on the camp circuit this spring and summer. Currently standing at 6-foot-1 and running in the low 4.4s in the 40-yard dash, Sanders showcases his athleticism and versatility in his junior highlights, excelling as a cornerback, wide receiver, and kick returner for Kilgore High School.
