A senior wide receiver from the greater New Orleans area, Phillip Wright, committed to LSU on Friday, just five days after retracting his commitment to Michigan. Wright, a 5-foot-11 wideout from Destrehan High, has decided to stay in his home state and join the Tigers. Rated as a three-star prospect and one of the top 70 receivers in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings, Wright is also recognized as one of Louisiana’s top 12 recruits.
With Wright, who has also received a scholarship offer from LSU’s track and field program, LSU now has commitments from seven of the top 12 players in Louisiana according to 247Sports. Additionally, Coach Brian Kelly’s staff added a cornerback to the class on Thursday, as Tennessee’s CJ Jimcoily announced his decision to sign with LSU.
